Huda Beauty – Textured Shadows Palette – Rose Gold Edition

One eyeshadow palette that has been on my mind for months now is the Huda Beauty Textured Shadows Palette Rose Gold Edition. Finally about three weeks ago it came back in stock on Cultbeauty. It sold out as fast as it came in…which is kind of scary…:-) I was lucky though to get my hands on it this round! I can become slightly obsessed if I see an eyeshadow palette that I really want! It’s been a while since I had that feeling so getting this gorgeous palette really had my mood flying high up! Once arrived I felt like a child on Christmas Day… I’ve read lots of comments about this palette, both positive and negative, so I was really curious to find out my own opinion. I paid £56.00 for it which I think is a good price thinking about that you get 18 eyeshadows.

Many comments I’ve read about this palette have complained about the packaging, saying that it’s too simple and floppy. I insead find the packaging perfect! It’s practical and easy to use, really lightweighted, which is important when you work with makeup. This palette you can bring with you everywhere without problem. I hate too bulky makeup packaging. I’m a huge fan of the Z-palettes and this one is a similar version of them, just perfect.

The eyeshadows are spectacular!!! In this palette you find 18 ultra-versatile powder shadows; six ”3D Metals”, two ”Chromatic Pressed Pearls” and 10 ”Saturated Mattes”. They’re silky smooth, blendable, so pigmented, loooong lasting and the 3D Metals are creamy and should for best color payoff be applied with your fingers!
Two days ago at work I did my makeup using this palette at six in the morning and when I came back home at nine in the evening the eyemakeup was still as it was early that morning! That for me means everything! I’m in love with this palette!

After 30 minutes of taking photos of this palette I couldn’t keep my hands off the eyeshadows any longer. Here comes the swatches in sunlight and daylight.

What to say, this is exactly one of those palettes that I’ll use frequently and it’s already on my top three list of eyeshadow palettes! I love love love it! It makes me happy everytime I open it, and you can make endless amounts of makeup looks with this one, from the most neutral to the most dramatic! ❤

Just to show you really quickly how the eyeshadows turn out on the lid I created this simple makeup look yesterday using these eyeshadows:

True Love Asks for Nothing

For Valentine’s Day this year I suggest a shimmery halo makeup. Choose the color combination you like most and your eyes will look gorgeous. I tried this combination in brown and turquoise shades which isn’t that classic but the effect you get is amazing.

I want to wish you a fantastic Valentine’s Day with much love. Myself will work the whole day and spread love with my makeup brushes 😉 . I usually never celebrate Valentine’s Day since it’s too commercial for my taste. I like to be nice and show love everyday and not closing it in one day. But the meaning of Valentine’s Day is beautiful so enjoy it as much as you can!

This could be an idea for Valentines Day or for a fun night out. In this look I also tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit, shade Amber Gold, which is a lovely golden highlighter that reflects a bit of pink. Remedy

The makeup I show you today goes in pink and grey tones. It’s not a combination I make that often but it’s a nice variant to use once in a while. Pink and grey can really look great together.
Sometimes people ask me how to combine different types of colors. It doesn’t have just a simple answer. But one thing that I’m certain about and that I believe is the most important when trying new color combinations is how you decide to apply them and the intensity you give to each shade. If you apply them in the ”right” way you can mix what colors you want, even colors you never would think look good together. It’s all about the application from my point of view. And it’s here where the practise comes in. The beautiful thing about makeup is that there’s no rules, just some guidlines, but you decide, the result can become horrible as wonderful, but the more you practice the more secure you get. It works as with everything else. One should never give up trying beacuse everytime you try you automatically become a bit better than last time.

In Florence today it’s really beautiful and sunny. I’m having a bit of a cold these days but now I really start looking forward to springtime. I’m still in a period where I don’t have much time to do new makeup looks but I’ve got a few ideas for upcoming looks, just need the time to realize them.

I hope you’re having a fantastic week!! Until next time, take care!! Xoxo

Let it Glow – New Products – Reviews

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – GLOW KIT

I finally got my hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit. This is one of those products I really have desired since it came out but waited to order until I had read what people thought about it. I read more pros than cons about it, so that’s why it’s here with me now 😉 . The first thing you notice is the lovely product presentation, you really can’t keep your hands from those glowy shades. The quality is great, the shadows are really compact, they’re not too powdery, and each shade weights 4,5 grams. The palette gives you a lot of product.

The glow kit really lives up to its name, it’s very glowy and shiny! I bought it since I don’t have many highlighters. I just have a few, a bit less glittery than these once, so I’m really glad I got it in order to complete my collection. These highlighters are metallic, both glittery and shimmery, and the result you get on the skin once applied is amazing, you really feel luminous. If you don’t exaggerate you can easily use these highlighters also for daytime. I would recommend to use them more intensely for special makeups and evening makeups. On me I find that the highlighters last good during the day, they do fade away a little bit but after many hours. For example I applied them this morning at seven setting everything with a makeup setting spray, and now it’s almost two o’clock in the afternoon and I notice that a bit of the highlighting is gone. But at the same time I think it’s kind of normal, I didn’t overdo the hightighting this morning, so I’m sure if you add more product the duration will be longer.

The price is €55, a bit pricey, and in my opinion it should cost a bit less, but if you think about that each shade cost around €9 the price makes sense. It’s a fair price.
(The only thing that makes me a bit disappointed with a few of these products from ABH is that they’re made in China…like this one… It doesn’t mean that the quality and the production controls are bad but as you know the production costs are much lower than if made elsewhere…I just hope they’ve high production standards…)

Here under you can see the swatches in sunlight and in daylight. I’ll try to create a look using this kit as soon as possible.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – PRO PENCIL

I also ordered this Pro Pencil in Base 1, which is for light to medium skin tones. As written on it you can use this Pro Pencil as an eye shadow and lip primer, to prevent feathering of color, and as a color corrector to conceal blemishes, dark circles and flaws. I’ll mainly use it to highlight under the eyebrows, but you can also use it to cover brow hairs as they grow back in and for highlighting on face and neck. It’s a convenient product since it does the work of 5 products in one pencil. You do not get much product but for the use I’ll do I’m sure it’ll last for a while. I just tried it out this morning and it really makes the highlighting under the eyebrows easy, once applied just blend it out with a brush and you’re done. The cost for this pencil is €16,20.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – BROW WIZ

I also ordered other two of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, one in color Blonde and one in color Soft Brown. I’ve been using the color Taupe since two years and for me that’s the perfect shade. This Blonde shade also works great for me, specially when I want to have a bit lighter look, for example in the beginning of the eyebrows. The color Soft Brown I needed to complete my freelance kit, I’ll use this one for clients. The Brow Wiz pencil is really my favorite brow product, it makes it so easy to draw and fill in your eyebrows and the result is beautiful and natural.

SIGMA – B12 BENT LINER

Last but not least I got myself this fantastic liner brush. I just have to say WOW, beacuse finally Sigma made a fabulous brush for eyeliner application! I love how its bent and that the tip is so precise. I know I’m going to love this liner brush!

Good Times

This week has been much more positive than the last one. Feels good to mentally feel better again. What really helps me to cheer up is listening to music, it works a bit like therapy for me. And I love going back a bit in time finding old songs I listened to years ago, and with that I get so many happy memories and positive energy which gets me back on the right track again.
(Then tomorrow we’ll change the wind shield on the car and with that one problem less. 🙂 )
On Saturday my daughter is turing 9, so she’ll have a few friends over for the day. I’ll make lunch for them and afterwards we’ll have the cake. In the afternoon I’ll bring them to do some kind of activity together, maybe ice skating. She’s really looking forward to her birthday which makes me very happy! 9 years already…

Today’s makeup is a kind of makeup I’ve done million of times. A neutral look with a pop of color along the lower lashline. It’s a look that in its simplicaty puts me in a good mood. It’s also super easy to make and you decide the intensity of the colors. I made mine really soft and blended. Then adding a pair of false eyelashes can never be wrong, as long as you use a pair that are super light and doesn’t disturb you during the day. Some lashes can make the eye feel heavy or sometimes the inner part can feel like a spine, if that happens try to find a pair that are lightweighted with an invisible band. I’m a big fan of Ardell’s eyelashes. Also Eylure has some good ones.

With that I want to wish you a great weekend!!!

  4. Over the mobile eyelid apply MAC’s eyeshadow in Naked Lunch. Apply it also to the inner corner of the eye.

  6. Just under the inner part under the lower lashline apply Nabla’s eyeshadow Lilac Wonder.
  7. Apply INGLOT’s AMC Eyeliner Gel 77 and make a wing.
  8. Line upper and lower waterline with Urban Decay’s 24/7 Waterline Eyepencil in Rail.

Red Light

I was so enthusiastic for this new year until I came back to Florence and a lot of things just went wrong. Cracked car wind shield because of a stone on the motorway, heating system not working correctly in the house, water leak from one of the radiators…
Then personally I’ve a problem with my knee so it’s hard for me right now to do physical activity. I love going out running and walking but the pain is stopping me for doing so. All these things together make me feel really down, without energy and actually a bit depressed in this moment. At least I hope my passion for makeup will return soon beacuse right now I’m in lack of inspiration. But, it can always be worse so I don’t want to complain. I think it’s normal to feel a bit down once in a while, also because then you appreciate even more when you feel good again. I’m normally a positive person and when this period is over I hope to restart this year with the right spirit.

The makeup I show you today is a simple warm smokey look where I’ve been using eyeshadows from Sigma’s Warm Neutral eyeshadow palette.

Want to wish you all a good weekend!!! ❤

Happy 2017

I hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas and now are ready to bring in 2017!
For me and my family Christmas has been wonderful. What I appreciate the most is to be able to spend time together with the ones that I love. I know Christmas is a tough period for many, that for different reasons can’t, won’t and are not able to celebrate, so being able to stay with the family for me is worth everything.

For Christmas I made a simple yet glittery makeup in warm tones with red lips. Here’s a picture of what came out. The light was really scarce so I was just able to get one decent photo. The makeup is kind of similar to the one I showed you in earlier post, but here I used the glitter on the eyelid instead and with a brown eyeliner.

But now, let’s focus on the makeup for New Year’s Eve instead. Just a few days left!
My idea for the New Years evening is to go for an even more gold glittery look with an intense eye makeup with straight lines and blended out shades. The look I show you is an usable, easy to create, cut crease look. A cut crease makeup isn’t hard to make and if blended out well the result will be magnific. I made a tutorial for you how I created this look that you can have a look at here under.

I wish you all a great prepartion for the New Year’s Eve and a splendid start of 2017! 🎆🎇🎆

  1. Prime the eyelids with Urban Decay’s eyeshadow primer potion. Highlight under the eyebrows with Tempera.
  2. Line the crease using Urban Decay’s 24/7 glide-on eyepencil in West.
  3. Blend in Antique Bronze right over the pencil line and blend out well. Then slightely over the brown blend in Realgar.
  4. Over the mobile eyelid apply NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.
  5. Over it apply Primavera and in the inner corner of the eye apply Vermeer.
  6. Apply Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Baked over the whole mobile eyelid. Then apply Inglot’s AMC Eyeliner Gel 77 and make a wing.
  7. Line upper and lower waterline with Inglot’s AMC Eyeliner Gel 77 and apply it also along the outer part under the lower lashline. Then blend in Cyprus Umber along the lower lashline. Right under Cyprus Umber blend in Love Letter.
  8. Apply Armani’s Black Ecstasy Mascara and put on Red Cherry’s eyelashes WSP.
  9. Contour the face using Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. On the cheeks apply Yves Saint Laurent Blush Volupté Passionnee nr 6.
  10. To the lips first apply NYX Lip Primer and then over it line and color the lips with Kryolan’s darkred faceliner. Over it apply Yves Saint Laurent’s Gloss Volupté 1 Golden. Your New Year’s makeup is ready!

🎄 Classical Christmas 🎄

So now it’s just a few days left until Christmas! I love the pre-Christmas period, the atmospere with all its candels and lights. How’s your feelings for Christmas? This year I managed not to stress too much and prepare a little bit at a time.

Then of course it’s this thing with the makeup, to choose one of all the makeups you can do for Christmas. I’ve got so many ideas that I sometimes don’t even know where to start. But I think that in the end I’ll go with a makeup in warm shades, like the one I show you here, with a pinch of glitter. A classical but never out of time makeup look.

I wish you a wonderful week and hope that your Christmas will be wonderful! ❤

Since Saturday afternoon me and my family are in this beautiful place called San Vigilio. It’s a beautiful village in Aldo Adige, in the north of Italy. Here you really get into the Christmas spirit, everything is so beautiful and almost magical. And the food is amazing. Here’s a few pictures from these days.

Pink and Gold Christmas

Today’s look goes in pink, purple and gold shades. These colors make me feel happy and I think it can be a fun alternative look for Christmas, or for one of all the upcoming Christmas parties. These are great shades to make green and brown eyes pop even more.
The AMC eyeliner gel 74 from Inglot that I’ve used for this look is one of the best gel eyeliners I’ve ever tried. I love the purple shade but even better is that this eyeliner really last the whole day without smudging nor ending up in the crease. As I wrote in an earlier post, it’s so hard to find reliable waterproof gel eyeliners, so I’m really glad I took the chance to try it. I’m also trying out their black one now, nr 77, and I’m in love with that one too.

Yesterday I worked, (I did the makeup on 13 people!), and my last working day before the Christmas holidays will be this Friday.
We’re leaving on Saturday morning for the north of Italy and after that we’re going up to Sweden. Tonight and tomorrow I’ve to do all the packing.

Have a great Wednesday!!!
