Modern Renaissance Makeup Look

I’ve been really busy and stressed lately, so finally being able to sit down here with the blog showing you a new look feels very good! Makes me clear my mind at least for a little while.
I made this look a few weeks ago but haven’t been able to organize all the photos until now. The new header for the blog is actually done using this makeup.

It’s now a couple of weeks that I’ve been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette. I can definately say that it has become one of my favorite eyeshadow palettes. I love all the shades and it’s easy to create both simple everyday makeup looks and more dramatic intense makeup looks using it. Perfect to bring with you in vacation.

Right now I’m in Sweden and as usual I brought too much makeup with me. (It’s so hard to choose that I always end up bringing more than I need to) When we go for just a week it’s different, then I try to bring just the necessary but when we’ll stay for a longer period like now, I always have a hard time to think rationally. If I don’t bring most of my favorites with me I always think I’m going to miss them so they normally get a place in the bag.
Mostly, these first days, I’ve actually been using the Modern Renaissance palette even though to be completely honest, it’s not that I’m doing much makeup in this period so right now I really wonder what I’ll do with all the makeup I brought with me… I hope my motivation comes back soon!

I hope you guys are doing great! I want to wish you all a fantastic summer whether you’re working or are in vacation!

  1. Prime the eyelids with Too Faced shadow insurance. Highlight under the eyebrows with TEMPERA.
  2. Blend in BURNT ORANGE above the crease.
  3. Right under blend in REALGAR.
  4. Blend in LOVE LETTER in the crease and blend outwards.
  5. Apply NYX Jumbo eyepencil in MILK over the mobile eyelid. Over it to the outer mobile eylid apply REALGAR.
  6. In the inner corner and over the inner/middle mobile eyelid apply PRIMAVERA.
  7. Under the lower lashline apply CYPRUS UMBER.
  8. Blend in LOVE LETTER right under CYPRUS UMBER.
  9. Line upper and lower waterline with Urban Decay’s 24/7 Waterline Eyepencil in Rail.
  10. Apply Illamasqua’s Precision Gel Eyeliner Infinity and make a wing.
  11. Apply Eyeko’s long and tall skinny brush mascara and put on Red Cherry Lashes nr 110.
  12. Contour the face using Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit and the Contour Kit. Apply Sephora’s orange blush on the cheeks.
  13. On the lips apply Stila’s Splash Collection Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in AMALFI.
  14. Set the makeup up with Urban Decay’s de-slick makeup setting spray. Done!

  1. Nothing like playing with makeup to de-stress! 🙂 I hope you’ll get new inspiration from your travels!
The eye look is gorgeous – I think you come up with the most creative placements of colours. I’d never think to incorporate the colours onto the lower lash like that.
And that Stila lipstick is so BRIGHT! I hope the weather in Sweden is nice right now!

    • So true dear, it can really help to play around with makeup, at least for us makeup addicts 😉 , to de-stress! It’s a fun creative moment where you really can express yourself and that helps the mind to.
I’m really happy to hear you like the eyeshadow placement, because sometimes it feels like I’m doing almost the same things all the time. 🙂
The Stila lipstick is really cool, the color is so intense and when I wear it I get lots of compliments about it, only negative thing is that unfortunatley it gets a bit dry after a while, but with some lipbalm you can resolve it…
Here in Sweden today the weather is grey and about 22 degrees. Yesterday it was raining, but for the kids this is perfect. We left Florence last week and there it was almost 40 degrees…which is crazy! It’s impossible to be out during the day if you’re not near a pool or at the seaside. In Sweden at least the kids have the possibility to do many outdoor activites.
How’s the summer weather in Canada? Are you in vacation?

      • It’s also very hot here in Toronto! We are 33C here today and with the humidity it will be more than 40C! There is a heat warning for people to stay indoors!
I’m not on vacation right now since I just returned from my Japan trip but we will be taking a cruise in early Sept to eastern Mediterranean cruise – I’m very excited about that! 🙂
